Once Fish Taco was overcome, the band returned to the rehearsal room where it all started. They began to play and play, and moved forward without even thinking. I can tell this does not come from any specific place, does not follow any particular taste and it’s definitely not driven by any significant ambition... and I know this, ‘cause I know them. It was a summer day, during the recording process (let me borrow the words by Mr. D) they told me that there were no arduous nor hard-to-understand reasons in the album; concepts are exactly as sounds, colors or images, intensities should you agree or not, should you let pass or not; there is nothing meant to be understood, nothing to be interpreted, the lyrics are not binding and won’t upset anyone nor anything; that it’s all just music inside a record.
That’s how they felt about it and that’s how they recorded it during a peaceful summer, in the same right place where they recorded their very first album, in a little studio in Bera. They entitled it Saturnalia .
Naica is a band that belongs to the musical association of Hondarribia, Psilocybe. Founded in 2011 by Carlos Noain and Naia Mandaluniz in NYC, the band became a quintet when Mikel Azkona, David Martinez and Santiago Noain joined. In 2012 they recorded their first album Fish Taco, and during 2013 they have been preparing their second album which was recorded during the summer in the Mik Studios in Bera, with "Maikel" and Iker Alzaga as engineers, and mastered in September by Dave Roman. The album, entitled Saturnalia and composed of nine songs, will be released in January 2014 by Psilocybina Records. During 2014 the band will be entirely devoted to the presentation of Saturnalia.
